Dr. Matthew R. Romoser

Dr. Matthew Romoser is a human factors engineer, researcher, educator, and process improvement consultant with 25 years of experience working directly with industry, transportation agencies, and research partners. His expertise spans both industrial and transportation human factors, Lean Six Sigma, work analysis, and advanced training system design. Whether supporting manufacturing teams, healthcare providers, or driver safety programs, he focuses on helping people and systems perform better – safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

As a trainer, Dr. Romoser specializes in hands-on, practical learning experiences tailored to real-world challenges. He develops custom training plans that meet organizations where they are, blending instruction with ongoing mentorship. As a consultant, he works directly with engineers, frontline staff, and leadership to uncover root causes, reduce waste, improve layout and flow, and strengthen safety culture.

At the core of his approach is the belief that lasting improvement comes from addressing all three pillars of system performance: process variability (Lean Six Sigma), system measurement (Work Analysis), and human behavior (Human Factors). By aligning all three, he helps clients build processes that are resilient, measurable, and truly human-centered.

Systems Scholar’s Mission

Systems Scholar’s mission is to provide blended training (either online, on-site or a mix of both) and consulting solutions to individuals and companies which optimize the interaction of operator, material and machine. This is accomplished with a balanced, multidisciplinary approach integrating lean six sigma, work analysis and human factors methods and tools.
